Some Things Never Change

Some people stay your best friend for as long as you can remember.

Some people get older and weirder, but still love each other all the same.

Some people grow up, while others never seem to change.

Sometimes life surprises you when it comes to the people you end up meeting again.

But you know the one thing that is the hardest to change?

LOVE

Sisterly Love Of All Sorts

I honor of the AMAZING weather on Monday, Meg and I decided to take our dog for a walk around the neighborhood (it was kind of more of a chore, but the weather made it fun). It made me realize how thankful I am for beautiful weather, as well as BOTH of my crazy sisters!

Neither Meg nor Maddy wanted to show their face for this picture.

Typical Meg

Cuddling in the grass.

Maddy did not want to be caught.

Summer may be almost over, but Meg, Maddy, and I are going to make the best of it! See ya later!

Happy List

So this post is inspired by one of my favorite blogs, a fellow Richmonder, A Girl Named Leney. I discovered her blog after she shot wedding photos for my former camp counselor and good friend Amber, and just love her random, happy posts. So here goes:

HAPPY LIST

raw cookie dough. chocolate milk with bendy straws. windy fall nights. loud thunderstorms. yummy smelling candles. warm cinnamon rolls. ginger cookies. fuzzy socks. hot showers. catching fireflies. tall trees perfect for climbing. sour candy. walking around barefoot. cheesy romance movies. banjos. doodling on yourself and others. star gazing on perfect summer nights. peanut butter and jelly sandwiches with the perfect ratio of peanut butter to jelly. swimming deep underwater. overalls. going thrifting. large empty fields perfect for running. rope swings. honeysuckle. days when there are no clouds in the sky. crazy picture taking. writing with new markers. the jumbo 64 crayon box everyone had in the 2nd grade. tree houses. old family pictures. getting mail. cute weddings. playing a song over and over because you love it. retro friday nights on Lite 98.

True Colors

So I remember back in 7th grade chorus, our eccentric yet rather wonderful chorus teacher, Ms. Burford, made us sing this song called "True Colors"originally by Cyndi Lauper and later covered by the Glee cast, which, if you were born around the same time I was, unfortunately is probably the version you know. Anyways, the song has a good meaning, and trust me, I have nothing against Cyndi Lauper or good old 80's music, but I admit, my friends and I sometimes remember our awkward middle school years by singing this song... Which is kind of what happened today.

We had a good reason though. Many people have probably heard of the Color Run, Richmond held one back in March and they have been happening all over the country, which has inspired many other organizations to host color runs, many of which are in RVA. So this morning, me and my two best friends from middle school, Emma and Courtney, all got back together again to do the run together, get covered in colored corn starch, and sing really loudly the whole way through, as well as for hours afterward. It was a wonderful day, despite having to wake up at 7 o'clock to get there on time (why anyone would want to love all the way in New Kent and drive into the city every day is beyond me... of well, to each their own)

Before and After

Just ignore my really unfortunate face in this...

Emma looks sassy even when she throws color.

You can just ignore my face in this too...

I struggle.

This was the result...

Best friends <3

So, even if we all went to different high schools, even if we only get to see each other on occasion, and even if we know different people and lead different lives then we may have before, there's nothing big enough to bring us apart. Everyone has a rough time in middle schools, lets just admit it, but finding the two best friends in the world to go through that awkward stage with you and still love you once you get out of it (actually, I'm not sure if I'll EVER get out of it) it something that not many people can say they have. I am so lucky to have friends like Emma and Courtney. Here's to 6 years and counting!

When Weeks Feel Like Years

Just as a fair warning before I begin this post, these photos are definitely not the best quality... they're all quite pixilated and cropped weirdly and just not really that great. But I felt they were worth being shared, so oh well.

So you know that feeling when you miss someone, and even though it may have only been a couple days since you last saw them, it feels like forever?

Yeah, I know that feeling all too well.

So, I was starting to feel that way about a lot of people actually, especially one of my best friends from middle school, Emma, as well as my many friends from camp, even though it's only been about a week since we all last saw each other (not even that much actually...) Anyway, we felt it was time to change that, so this afternoon, Emma came over for a couple hours just to hang out, and later that night I went to Cameron's house along with some of my friends from camp to celebrate his birthday.

Sometimes I pretend that I don't have the mind of a 12 year old, but then I just can't help myself and I have to take a cheesy jumping picture.

It was ok though, because Emma did it also.
I'm glad I have friends like Emma, because even though we may be the strangest people EVER (refer to the photo above) I'm just glad I have someone to be extremely weird with!
Along with seeing Emma, I spent some time with my favorite person in the world :)
We were all pretty happy to be back together again.
I FOUND THIS AMAZING PICTURE OF MY BEST FRIEND AVERY IN THE HALLWAY AND JUST HAD TO TAKE A PICTURE I LOVE THIS TOO MUCH!!!
 Me and Avery feat. Andrew

We all watched some weird football movie the guys chose while eating way too many Dorito's, had a bonfire in the backyard while listening to Mumford and Sons on repeat, walked around the neighborhood in the dark trying to avoid getting hit by cars, and finally played doubles ping pong in the garage. Maybe not that eventful, but it was still great to see everyone again after so long! (As in less than one week...)

I love you all so much, and I am so lucky to have the best friends in the world! Hopefully we'll see each other again soon, before I start to go into deprivation without everyone!
